August 8th 1999 - 6 Jeeps And A Dak

On August 7th my brother-in-law had a party and while there I got an invite to go 4x4ing the next day. My wife already had plans so I went solo.

When I met them all in the parking lot they just asked me what I was driving...and even thou it was not a Jeep, they still let me come along...thanks guys...I think.

Starting out I had two Jeeps in front of me: YJ on left, TJ on right

Three behind me: Black, White and Green YJs

And Willys Teal TJ

Here we are putting down the trail...I had no passenger so had to drive and take pictures at the same time.

At the end of the dirt road...which had a fair amount of mud puddles on it ( for a drought situation year )...was this hill.

The trail is about 1 1/2 Jeeps wide with lots of loose boulders.

There is a rock about 2/3rds the way up that I said I did not think my truck would go over...it is about half the width of the trail and pretty much a vertical face of about 2 foot or so.

Had to get of picture of my truck before I attempted the hill...in case it was the last chance I had to get one.

The Jeeps bounced right up it and over "the rock"

My turn to put the peddle to the metal and try to bounce up...notice that my reverse lights are on as I made it all the way up to "the rock" and had to back down.

But I tried again...

And again...

Here I am with my left front tire over "the rock" but the rear just will not bounce over it...as you can see by the tire smoke I did not give up easily ( or cheaply )...this is as far as I got all 6 times I tried to go up this hill...finally I just went as far as I could and got a tug from one of the Jeeps.

Just a picture of one of the Jeeps on the trail.

Same Jeep different spot...

This YJ was basicly stock and still did real well

Right at the bottom of this hill was a smaller hill and then a dip...so you could not get a running start at it...not everyone tried this...the mighty Dak dug it's way up the hill...after many attempts...it was pretty loose stuff and just makes we wish I had a locker already.

Here we are at the end of the trail...TJ, YJ, YJ, YJ, YJ, TJ, Dak

Another one...

Had to take a picture of the red Jeep as my YJ is red also

Willy was complaining that no one every takes a picture of his Jeep so I did...he brought his nephews with him
